Seriously, though, after my run last Wednesday, I was downright giddy! It was kind of strange. I felt like I was a bit drunk and I swear I didn't have anything to drink. (Well, except for Gatorade... maybe that was what did it. ;-) ) I have to admit, though, it WAS a great feeling.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't end up feeling that great after EVERY run. Most are just OK, and some totally suck. But on Wednesday, I think I was already having a pretty good day and then I went for a run with a girl from my team who is slightly slower than I am, so I had a pretty easy run. I think it was the combination of not pushing myself too hard, and having someone to run (and chat) with that made it a whole lot more fun.
Last Tuesday at track, we did more drills and then started intervals. Here's a picture of me doing walking lunges at track. Not bad, eh?

On Thursday, I increased my run/walk interval to 3:1 mins. It was tough, but I managed to do 4.75 miles with that interval. It helped that I was running with two other girls, otherwise, I may have stopped or switched back to 2:1. I had gotten really comfortable with the 2:1, so it was good to try to break out of my comfort zone a bit. I think I'm going to stick with the 2:1 for the longer runs and keep trying to do 3:1 for the shorter runs until I get comfortable with that.
This week at track, we did bleachers. Ugh! That was pretty tough, and I ended up slowing down toward the end, but in some strange way it was also kind of fun. I was also nominated for Participant of the week this week. My mentor, Noelle, said some nice things about me and I got a free pair of socks! Whoo hoo!
Coming up this weekend... 12 miles! Unfortunately for me (since I'm in the slow group and running a longer distance), I'm in the first wave, which starts at 7am in Half Moon Bay, which if you don't know, is about 45 min to an hour from my house. That means I'll be getting up at 5:30 am this Sat so I can go run 12 miles. I know what you're thinking... I'm insane. Well, maybe, but on the flip side by 10am, I can say, "I've already run 12 miles this morning!" and then go back to sleep! ;-) Seriously, though, I'm actually looking forward to it. I really enjoy each new personal longest, something I'll never have again (unless I sign up for an ultra-marathon or something, which is not likely to happen). In any case, I'm going to try to finish it in under 2 1/2 hours, which is about 12.5 min/mile, and hopefully I'll remember my watch this week!
